AFFORDABILITY STARTS IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

AFFORDABILITY STARTS IN OUR COMMUNITIES. Saturday morning at the barbershop, talking about the economy with two of Chicago’s finest barbers, Roy and Herb. Their point was simple: when people have more money in their pockets, they can support the businesses in their neighborhoods. And when those businesses are doing better, that money moves through the community, from the barbershop to the grocery store, the gas station and other local businesses. That is the ecosystem we have to pay attention to when we talk about affordability and the economy. Barbers, beauticians, restaurants, corner stores and other small businesses are not separate from the economic health of a community. They are part of what keeps it moving. These are the conversations I want to keep having, listening directly to the people who work, own businesses and serve our neighborhoods every day. Thank you, Roy and Herb, for the Saturday morning conversation. Election Day is November 3.
