Congressional Oversight of National Security

During a recent House hearing, Rep. Ro Khanna joined fellow House Democrats in questioning Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about the economic impact of the conflict with Iran, including what it could mean for taxpayer spending, fuel prices, food costs, and the overall cost of living. Asking tough questions is one of Congress's most important responsibilities. Whether people agree or disagree on foreign policy decisions, they deserve to understand how those decisions could affect their household budgets and everyday lives. These conversations matter because decisions made in Washington can have real consequences for families here in the 7th Congressional District who are already managing the rising cost of living. As the Democratic nominee for Congress, I believe these are the kinds of conversations people deserve to see. Transparency, accountability, and informed public debate are essential to good government.
